Application

Hydrazine hydrate, also known as hydrazine, is strongly alkaline and hygroscopic. The pure product is a colorless and transparent oily liquid, with a light ammonia smell, smoke in humid air, strong alkaline and hygroscopic. In industry, the content of 40%-80% hydrazine hydrate aqueous solution or hydrazine salt is generally used. Hydrazine hydrate liquid exists in the form of dimer, miscible with water and ethanol, insoluble in ether and chloroform; It can erode glass, rubber, leather, cork, etc., and decompose into N2, NH3 and H2 at high temperatures; Hydrazine hydrate has strong reducibility and reacts violently with halogens, HNO3, KmnO4, etc., and can absorb CO2 in the air and produce smoke. Hydrazine hydrate and its derivatives are widely used in many industrial applications as reducing agents, antioxidants, pharmaceuticals, foaming agents, etc.

(1) Pharmaceutical industry

From hydrazine derivatives aminopyridine, and then synthesize drugs with anticancer, antipyretic or anti-inflammatory effects, which are widely used in medicine. For example, the production of isoniazid, parazid, furanpirin, cephalosporins, antimicrobial synergistin (TMP), neoxinazole, panbi, blood pressure Dajing, amidine, etc., are used for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, central nervous system, anti-urinary tract infection, anticancer drugs and hormones and other drugs.

(2) Manufacture of pesticides

There are more than 100 kinds of pesticides synthesized from hydrazine hydrate and hydrazine derivatives 1, 2 and 4-triazole, such as plant growth regulator maleic hydrazide, which can be used to inhibit the germination of potatoes during storage and prevent the production of tobacco axillary buds. In addition, it is also widely used in the production of insecticides, bactericides, herbicides, etc., such as paclobutrazol, powdery rust, leaf grass powder, dichloride and other pesticides.

(3) Used as an oxygen scavenger

Because hydrazine is reducible, it reacts with oxygen to generate nitrogen and water, which is non-toxic, non-corrosive and rapidly deoxygenated, so it is often used as an aqueous medium deoxidizer. The feed water of the steam generation boiler with the largest amount of pressure cooker, such as thermal power plant and fertilizer plant, has only 1.0×10-9 oxygen content after hydrazine hydrate deoxygenation, which is simple to operate, lower than the traditional deoxidation method, and has no pollution of three wastes.

(4) Production of plastic and rubber additives (i.e., foaming agents).

(5) Metal reduction

Hydrazine hydrate can reduce chromium from 6 valence to 4 valence, so it can be used for the recovery of metal raw materials, it can reduce platinum, rhodium, palladium, tin, etc. to metal colloids, can also reduce selenium into selenium powder, gold perchromate, palladium chloride to gold, palladium.

(6) Used as high-energy fuel

In the past, the biggest role of hydrazine was used as rocket fuel, and then it was developed from hydrazine to dimethylhydrazine, and from dimethylhydrazine to monomethylhydrazine. Monohydrazine is a rocket fuel with superior performance than metahydrazine. In the 70s, 70% of hydrazine in the United States was used as rocket fuel. Hydrazine is also used as battery fuel. Hydrazine hydrate can also be used in organic synthesis of photosensitive films, contrast agents and anti-ash fogging agents.
