Application

Tetrahydrofuran easily turns into peroxide during storage. Therefore, commercial tetrahydrofuran is often protected from oxidation with BHT, 2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol. Tetrahydrofuran can be stored in a sealed vial with sodium hydroxide in a dark place.
