Heptahydrate: It's blue-green crystals or granules, odorless with astringency. In dry air, it's efflorescent. In moist air, it oxidizes readily to form a brown-yellow, basic ferric sulfate. It's soluble in water, insoluble in ethanol.
Dried: It's gray-white to beige powder.with astringency.It is mainly composed of FeSO₄·H₂O and contains a few of FeSO₄·4H₂O.It's slowly soluble in cold water (26.6 g / 100 ml, 20 ℃), It will be dissolved quickly when heating.It's insoluble in ethanol.Almost insoluble in 50% sulfuric acid.

Usage

It is used as nutritional supplement(iron fortifier) and fruit and vegetable colorant.
